Nidus is an invitation to return to the here and now, to the natural world, and to recognize the silent dignity of every creature, no matter how small, fragile, or different. Each botanical imprint held within the material becomes a sign — an unrepeatable presence, a fragment of life that deserves attention.
Nidus explores the body as a place of protection. The figure becomes a threshold: a quiet form suspended within a space of matter, memory, and vegetal traces.
The circular shape evokes a nest, a cocoon, a soft enclosure. It receives the body the way remembrance receives an instant. The skirt expands into a territory built from botanical imprints, layered glazes, and chromatic sediments. Leaves and flowers emerge as residues of a season, fragments of a vital cycle impressed upon the surface.
In this work, rest becomes a gesture of transformation. The human form slowly dissolves into its environment, and the boundaries between skin, fabric, and earth become permeable. What remains is a state of intimacy within a silent hour — an hour that does not merely pass, but settles.
This painting is part of The White Hour series, devoted to liminal states of being: moments in which the body becomes process, and time stratifies and leaves traces. Here, the hour is quiet: a white hour of protection, regeneration, return.
