I started this piece chasing the feeling of ice cracking — that moment of sudden release after stillness. The pale blue and silver wings spread out like frozen wingspans, calm and matte, until they meet a dark indigo core that fractures into a scatter of metallic blue and silver flecks.
In the studio, the process was about contrast: gesso laid down first to build texture and movement, then fluid ink poured and tilted so it found its own pale, soft-edged paths across the surface. At the center, I pushed in saturated acrylic and metallic pigment, letting it splinter and pool — that's where all the tension in the piece lives. Everything around it stayed quiet, almost glacial, so that burst would feel like an exhale after holding your breath.
Stretched on a solid wooden frame with carefully finished 4 cm (1.5") deep edges — no frame needed. The work arrives ready to hang, signed on the back, with a certificate of authenticity. Packed with maximum protection for safe international shipping.
