Nature 282— Abstract Organic Teal (2023) Original Acrylic Painting by Muriel Napoli

I created Nature 282 seeking to capture the silent energy of organic expansion — that moment when a form is neither plant nor mineral, but something in between.
For me, abstract painting is a dialogue with materials. I begin by building a thick layer of gesso across the canvas, creating a textured, uneven ground. I then introduce fluid ink diluted with water, allowing it to migrate and pool freely into these dark, branching structures. Layers of acrylic and watercolor are added gradually to fix the composition and introduce the luminous teal and aqua tones, contrasting matte depth with subtle lustre.
The result is a vertical work — 50 × 100 cm — that holds a quiet intensity. Stretched on a solid wooden frame with 4 cm (1.5") deep edges, carefully finished as part of the composition.
