mountain flow 2.5 (2022) Original Wood Sculpture by Manfred Hellweger

The wall installation ‘mountain flow 2.5’ is made from two different types of wood: maple and walnut.
The wooden strips and veneers, which vary in thickness, were deliberately arranged by Manfred Hellweger during the gluing process. Their irregular taper towards the bottom creates a lively, flowing dynamic. The characteristic mountain silhouettes were then precisely cut out and sanded by hand.
Theme-wise, the work explores the idea of constant change. It highlights that not only humans, but also nature, are subject to a continuous process of change. Inspired by the natural flow of water, the work illustrates the notion that everything is in motion, changing and evolving. Nothing stays the same.
The surface is left entirely in its natural state, preserving the natural characteristics and colour nuances of the two types of wood.
The necessary screws and wall plugs are supplied for easy wall mounting.
