This original watercolor artwork was created during a summer plein air painting session in Fenit Harbour, County Kerry, Ireland.
Standing on the pier amidst the fresh Atlantic breeze, I captured the quiet, atmospheric mood of the harbor, with fishing boats and yachts under a soft gray-blue sky — some floating in the water, while others rested directly on the pier itself. The piece was painted almost entirely outdoors on location to preserve the raw emotion and immediate light of the Irish coast, with only minor final adjustments added in my studio in Germany.
