Mimas (2020) Original Acrylic Painting by Pamela Rys

This is the acrylic, gold leaf and objects painting on high quality linen and custom made canvas. The style is defined by sculptural use of paint. It is 3-D, built-up mixture of many layers of thick gesso, paint, sand and other materials.
I'm inspired by the structure of Saturn's Moons. This one was inspired by the surface of the satellite called Mimas. With a diameter of 396 kilometres (246 mi), it is the smallest astronomical body that is known to still be rounded in shape because of self-gravitation. It is named after Mimas, a son of Gaia in Greek mythology.
Finished with a glaze of UV varnish to protect against sunlight and dust damage. This artwork is signed and dated on the back. A signed Certificate Of Authenticity will be included with the artwork.
