MATRIX (2025) Original Mixed-media Painting by Johna Gussoni

75 x 155 x 4cm (framed)

£3,879

“Matrix” is a work that combines sustainability and introspection through the reuse of waste materials. Created using 4.500 recycled tobacco sticks, it transforms items destined for the bin into a visual composition that invites us to reflect on the relationship between reality, perception and awareness.

The surface unfolds like a mosaic of small tiles in a gradual chromatic transition from blue to red: a shift that symbolically evokes a change in mental state, the boundary between lucidity and conditioning, between balance and choice. The title Matrix refers to the famous metaphor of the pill, understood as a moment of realisation and openness towards a deeper dimension of reality.

The work suggests a dual level of transformation: the material, through recycling, and the mental, through the ability to observe the world with a fresh and conscious perspective.

Materials used:

paint, tobacco, paper, cellulose, resin
