This pen on paper drawing explores the tension between the conscious and the unconscious mind. A dense turbulent mass kf overlapping lines forms a heavy visceral presence. A more defined face on the right, suggesting the fragile emergence of the ego from the chaotic depths of the id. Created in 2005 this work explores Freudian ideas of psychological pressure, repression, and the constant interplay between hidden impulses and outward identity. All works are on Aquarell Arches paper 4 deckle edges and are unframed.
