Luminous Strata

This contemporary abstract painting is built around a dense arrangement of overlapping textured forms in soft off-white, cream, beige and light grey tones. The relief was shaped by hand with texture paste using a palette knife, then painted with acrylic by brush to create subtle variations across the raised surface. The irregular layers generate natural shadows and changing highlights depending on the direction of the light, giving the composition depth and a quiet mineral character. Rather than depicting a specific subject, the work focuses on matter, balance and the interaction between neutral colors and relief. The sides of the canvas are painted as a continuation of the composition, allowing the artwork to be displayed without additional framing.
