Look Around You (2026) Original Oil Painting by Valeria Buianova

This painting was created after a period of working in game development, when I often spent up to 13 hours a day in front of a laptop screen. The dark rectangular form in the center reflects that screen, while the luminous green hills represent the world outside it — present, alive, and almost forgotten.

The work speaks about the quiet distance that can grow between us and reality when life is increasingly experienced through technology. It is the first piece in my series exploring modern society, digital environments, and how screens reshape the way we perceive the world.

For me, this painting is both a personal reminder and an invitation to pause, look up, and reconnect with the physical world around us. Its contrast between the screen-like form and the surrounding landscape reflects the fragile balance between digital immersion and real presence.
