Lochside Memories is an original oil painting inspired by the colour, traditions and quiet pleasures of Scottish Highland life.
A brilliant blue loch winds between rolling mountains beneath a vast summer sky, while sailing boats move gently across the water. Closer to home, a little whitewashed cottage sits among colourful flowers as everyday life unfolds around it. A tartan blanket hangs in the sunshine, children gather at a small table, a Highland cow wanders through the meadow and a dog follows the old stone path.
Standing proudly in the foreground is a piper in traditional Scottish dress, adding another distinctly Highland element to the scene.
Rather than depicting one particular location, I wanted to create an imagined Scotland filled with warmth and nostalgia — the sort of place that feels somehow familiar even if you have never actually been there.
The vivid blues and greens of the landscape contrast beautifully with the red tartan, colourful flowers and white cottage, creating a cheerful and uplifting painting with lots of small details to discover.
Painted entirely in oils, this is a one-of-a-kind original artwork, not a print.
