Listopad (2024) Original Oil Painting by Marina Borisova

Bright scarlet rowan berries, touched by the first frosts, serve as the primary color accent. They symbolize nature’s farewell beauty. A heavy, intricate cluster bows slightly downward, heralding the arrival of autumn’s maturity. The finely cut rowan leaves—shifting from ochre to deep crimson—appear almost translucent in the dim light. The living flame of candles. Candles burn alongside the cool beauty of the berries; their soft, flickering light dispels the gloom of a rainy evening. Wax slowly dripping down evokes the fleeting nature of time. The candlelight bathes everything in golden, honeyed hues, creating a sense of safety and tranquility. A play of light and shadow. The painting’s background is typically steeped in deep, cinematic shadows and blue tones, emphasizing the contrast between the chill of autumn outside and the warmth within.
