Original artwork description
Light / Deep Blue Abstraction explores the shifting relationship between light, depth and movement through an expressive field of blues. Layers of turquoise, deep blue and softer luminous tones overlap and dissolve into one another, creating a sense of space that is constantly changing.
The painting developed intuitively through layered applications of oil paint and gestural brushwork. Areas of intensity alternate with quieter passages, allowing light to emerge through the deeper tones and giving the surface a sense of rhythm and atmospheric depth.
Rather than representing a specific landscape, the work evokes the sensation of looking into an open, fluid space — somewhere between sea, sky and memory. It forms part of my continuing exploration of blue as a colour of emotion, movement and contemplation.
