There is a moment before a thread becomes a knot — when it is still only intention, still only direction. Lien lives in that moment. I built this surface slowly, layer by layer, watching threads gather from a single point at the base and open upward like a quiet exhalation. The relief is real: you can read it with your hand before your eye understands it. Silver moves through pearl, pewter settles into soft grey, and the metallic white catches light differently depending on the hour. It is a painting about connection before connection is named — the silence that holds two things together before language arrives.
Lien is a large-format contemporary abstract painting, 100 × 150 cm, created in 2026. The work is built in acrylic with Vallejo White Pumice textured paste and finished with lacquer — no resin. The Vallejo pumice gives the surface its sculptural relief, allowing the threads to rise physically from the canvas rather than being painted onto it. The palette moves through silver, pearl, metallic white, warm pewter , and soft grey. The piece belongs to my Silence Before Form capsule, a body of work exploring the threshold between matter and meaning. Signed on the reverse, sold with Certificate of Authenticity. Ready to hang.
