Lianne (2025) Original Oil Painting by Anthony Galati

This painting was pure fun from start to finish. To build the texture of the wall behind the model, I laid a base coat of acrylic, scraping and pushing the paint around with a putty knife: warm browns juxtaposed against small areas of greenish blue. Everything after that was oils. Once the figure was in, I went back and magnified the nuances already happening in that wall texture to refine it into what you see now. I like adding an element like this, because it changes the dynamic of how you read the figure entirely.

I loved painting her face, especially the green eyes. Pink cheeks and that little highlight at the edge of the nose are always fun. I was happy with how the glowing pink transparency of her pinky finger came out, too.
