About the artist

I am a Hampshire-based painter and printmaker, making paintings and original prints inspired by walking, memory and the familiar landscape around me.

My work grows from the daily experience of walking through the suburban landscape of Horton Heath and the surrounding countryside. Paths, houses, trees, hedges, people and dogs become starting points for paintings and prints that sit somewhere between observation and imagination.

Rather than making literal records of places, I use memory to simplify, rearrange and sometimes transform what I encounter. Repeated journeys and familiar surroundings become a kind of personal map — a visual record of place, routine and fleeting encounters.

I work mainly in acrylic painting, linocut and wood engraving. My prints are hand-pulled in small limited editions, while the paintings are original works on canvas or board.

I previously worked as a teacher and Head of Art for more than 30 years. Since retiring from teaching, I have developed my own studio practice, completing an MA in Illustration and exhibiting my work in galleries and open exhibitions.

My work is rooted in a simple idea: even the most familiar walk can become an opportunity to see a place differently.
