In this work, the artist encounters the image of Gulyabani while researching the famous Turkish film Gulyabani. He creates a new image by interpreting the image many times and transforming it into female images. He creates this work by using the lace he received from his wife Göknil Gümüş Sungurtekin’s dowry, sections from Gulyabani paintings, and the frames and color textures he made on the walls in previous periods. While emphasizing individual past memories in the lace textures, figurative deformities refer to the social traces of the film that shed light on traditional history. Lace textures combine with the artist’s brush strokes to create a new story on the canvas, while referring to memories that are gradually disappearing. The artist goes beyond being a mere visual object with the materials he uses in his works and reshapes it, creating a new dialogue from personal and collective memories.
