This original acacia wood sculpture is one of the latest artworks of the skillful Bulgarian contemporary sculptor Nikolay Martinov, deeply inspired by contemporary cubism, postmodernism and abstract irregular geometry. It is beautifully hand carved in one solid piece of acacia wood. The artwork uses the visual language of shape, form, natural color and geometrical three dimensional linearity to create an abstract sculptural composition, which may exist with a degree of independence from visual references in the world. It is one extraordinary woodcarving masterpiece and exquisite valuable home décor.
Nikolay Martinov’s work encompasses many contemporary art styles with the act of minimal drawing being key to his exploration of form and sculptural composition. Mining a space between figuration and abstraction, the artist consistently returns to nature as a point of departure, exploring algorithmic forms and fractal shapes as a metaphor for transformation.
