pDan Arcus is a Romanian-born visual artist whose work moves between figurative painting, surrealism and contemporary mythology./ppHis practice explores the relationship between reality and the stories human beings construct around it. Drawing from mythology, psychology, social behaviour, technology and popular culture, Arcus creates images in which familiar subjects inhabit improbable situations—sometimes playful, sometimes unsettling./ppRecurring themes include human curiosity, power, belief, memory, technological evolution and our desire to understand or control forces larger than ourselves.
