About Dan Laurentiu Arcus

Biography

"As an artist, my practice is rooted in two interwoven avenues of exploration. I delve into the psychological impact of visual imagery, and the technical methods used to evoke emotional responses. I work with an array of mediums and tools to manipulate and mold spontaneous gestures, refining and reshaping until they coalesce into a narrative that unfolds within the composition. My creative process is characterized by a dynamic interplay between intention and chance, as I sculpt and refine each piece until it embodies the emotional essence I strive to convey."

Dan Arcus, born on June 5, 1983, is a multidisciplinary artist known for his thought-provoking and evocative works. He graduated from the University of Art and Design in Cluj-Napoca, Romania with a specialization in fashion design.

After honing his skills in the Romanian fashion scene, he moved to Brussels, Belgium and rediscovered his lifelong passion for painting and drawing. He quickly gained recognition, booking his first exhibition at an art gallery, and his works are now part of over 150 private collections worldwide.

Arcus' art has evolved over time, from expressive portraits to complex figurative compositions that invite viewers to question reality and process information through their own experiences and social contexts. He works with a variety of mediums, including oil, acrylic, pastel, charcoal, and ink, and is constantly exploring the interactions between these mediums to create unexpected results. Today, Arcus continues to push the boundaries of figurative and abstract art, using the unexpected to fuel his creative vision.
