In Israel, irises grow freely in parks and nature reserves, and when they bloom in February, families often travel especially to see them.

There is something almost ceremonial about this moment. The flowers are majestic and striking, but also incredibly delicate. Their flowering season is very short, and the beauty that draws so many people lasts only for a brief time.

That fragility is what stayed with me.

I wanted to paint the iris at the moment when it is fully open — luminous, strong, and almost theatrical — and, in a way, extend its life beyond the few days nature gives it.

The violet, blue and warm pink tones move across the petals, while the deeper shadows make the flower feel almost sculptural.

For me, Quiet Iris is about preserving a fleeting moment. Painting became a way to let the flower remain in bloom a little longer.
