Artist's description:

I'm awfully fond of painting anything that's glassy, colorful, and shiny, and marbles are certainly all of those things and more. I painted a similar composition of marbles on foil a few years ago, but it sold, and I wanted to create another for a one-person show.

I loved painting these marbles, and I think it's obvious which one took me the most time. The marble's surface resembled oil on pavement, and I thought it would be a great challenge to try to paint those swirly colors and reflections. That single marble, which is about the size of a dinner plate, took days, but I think it was worth the time and trouble.
