This photograph was taken on the Gulf of Follonica on an autumn day, just as a storm was beginning to rise and the sea was shifting into a restless state.
What drew me in was not the spectacle of the storm itself, but the subtle moment before it fully unfolds—the fragile threshold where calm dissolves into movement.

The composition is intentionally minimal and atmospheric. The horizon line is softened, almost dissolving into the sky, creating a sense of suspension and disorientation.
The sea appears blurred and unsettled, its surface trembling rather than defined, as if resisting stillness. I allowed motion and softness to become part of the image, embracing a natural abstraction that moves away from literal representation.

The color palette is muted and restrained: desaturated greens, greys, and pale, diffused light. These tones evoke a quiet tension, a subdued emotional landscape where nothing is fully stable yet nothing has completely broken.

For me, Inner Tide is a reflection of an internal state. The sea becomes a metaphor for the human condition—its constant shifting, its vulnerability, its inability to remain still. There is both turmoil and fragility in this moment, but also a certain quiet beauty in the way everything hovers on the edge of change.
