Iceland (2025) Original Acrylic Painting by Lander Ver Eecke

80 x 100 x 2cm (unframed)

£1,111.08

This work is inspired by the raw geological formations of Iceland — the slow, ancient process of mineral deposits building up layer upon layer on volcanic rock over thousands of years.

A self-made texture paste was applied directly to the canvas, creating ridges and fissures that mirror the stratified surfaces found in Iceland’s dramatic landscape. Layers of acrylic paint in vivid yellow, gold, turquoise and deep cobalt blue were then built up over the texture, evoking the spectrum of minerals — sulphur, copper, obsidian — that colour Iceland’s volcanic terrain. The work is finished with a satin varnish that adds depth and a subtle luminosity to the surface.

Up close, the painting reveals an almost geological intimacy — each crack, ridge and colour shift telling the story of time, pressure and transformation. From a distance, it reads as a sweeping, luminous landscape suspended between earth and sky.

Original, one-of-a-kind work. Ready to hang.
