A tumultuous spray in a vivid wave is suggested by this encaustic painting that makes use of oil stick and violet metallic powdered pigment (in the upper left). The addition of an oil-based pigment permits the dispersal of paint seen in the upper right, and air and thermal currents help move the paint in the center. In this manner I do not imitate as much as I make use of the same forces that shape the waves. Cobalt violet and blue, pale rose, silver and metallic light violet are the dominate colors in this little microcosm.

Materials used:

encaustic paint, powdered pigment, oil stick on cradled panel
