Honest explores a moment of quiet vulnerability — the point at which the human figure becomes more than simply a subject and begins to reveal something of the person within.

Through expressive, instinctive mark-making and the subtle interplay between form, colour and movement, I wanted to capture the natural beauty of the female figure without making it feel posed or idealised. There is a sense of intimacy to the composition: a private, unguarded moment in which strength and vulnerability seem to exist together.

My work is strongly influenced by my study of human anatomy and my fascination with the way posture and gesture can communicate emotion without words. Rather than attempting to reproduce the figure precisely, I use the body as a way of exploring mood, identity and human connection.

The title Honest reflects that idea — stripping away the layers we present to the outside world and revealing something quieter, more personal and authentic underneath.

Painted on canvas, this is a one-of-a-kind original artwork, measuring 61 × 81 cm. Its contemporary figurative style makes it a striking statement piece for a living space, bedroom or private collection.
