With Held Within, I found myself drawn toward a more contained and introspective space. The forms in this work do not seek expansion, instead, they gather, overlap, and press into each other, creating a sense of quiet intensity.
The palette evolved organically earthy, warm, and grounded, bringing a tactile quality to the composition. I was interested in how these fragments could feel simultaneously connected and restrained, as though each element is aware of the other, yet holds its own presence.
There is a subtle tension that runs through the painting, an energy that is neither released nor resolved. For me, this work reflects a state of being where everything exists within a held, layered, and unresolved, yet complete in its own balance. Within Syntax, this becomes a more internal language, where structure begins to mirror an emotional and psychological landscape.
