In my experience, there are few places in the world where you can find visual contrasts as striking and humanity as vibrantly exposed as in Cuba. Ultimately I see myself as a storyteller. I develop emotional narratives about human experiences deriving from architectural forms and material objects and oil painting is the perfect technique to develop this series. I use plenty of layering splashing, dripping, and scratching. The process itself is a metaphor for the temporal transformations that the buildings and objects I depict went through. It is a process of adding and subtraction, creation and destruction.
