Hao Yun (2026) Original Mixed-media Painting by Xiaoyang Galas

Hao Yun means "Good Luck" in Chinese. Inspired by a memorable journey with my children to Chongqing and Chengdu in April 2026, this artwork reflects China's vibrant energy and the fascinating contrast between ancient traditions and a bold, futuristic vision. I first created the composition digitally in Procreate, combining my travel photographs with flowers from my garden in France, then brought it to life by hand on canvas using generous acrylic paint and collage to build rich texture and depth. Handwritten Bible verses in Chinese, French, and English are woven throughout the piece, making this original painting deeply meaningful. They create a bridge between cultures, inviting the viewer into a moment of reflection, hope, and blessing. Filled with vibrant colours and expressive textures, Hao Yun celebrates the beauty of cultural encounters, the joy of cherished memories, and the enduring hope that good fortune blossoms when our hearts remain open to the world.
