Golden Fields Linocut by Layla Khani (aka Laylart)
14 x 14cm (unframed) / 10 x 10cm (actual image size)
£70
Artwork description
Golden Fields is an original hand-pulled reduction linocut inspired by the cultivated fields and rolling landscape around the Malvern Hills.
A small white cottage sits among sweeping furrows and layered hills, with warm ochre and golden tones running through the fields beneath a soft blue sky. The strong carved lines give the landscape rhythm and movement, drawing the eye towards the distant cottage.
I created the work using the reduction linocut technique. Each colour is printed from the same lino block, with more of the surface carved away between every layer. The process continues until the image is complete, leaving a fixed edition that cannot be reproduced again.
Each impression is individually inked and printed by hand, so subtle variations in colour and texture are part of the character of the work.
Printed on 300gsm archival paper using oil-based inks
Signed, titled and numbered by hand on the front
Sold unframed
Materials used:
I use linseed oil based ink on high quality printmaking paper Archers88, using an etching press to create my images.
