Glitter #1 (2019) Original Acrylic Painting by Gastone Cecconello

40 x 55 x 6cm / 40 x 55cm (actual image size)

£2,170.08

A dense gold glitter ground, a shifting surface that transforms with the light. At the centre, a large purple X — sign of negation, of crossing, of intersection — extends downward into an arrow pointing directly at the five plaster hominids aligned along the lower edge. They too are covered in glitter, they too are part of the same luminous matter that looms above them.
The gesture is unambiguous: something from above singles out the human figures. It does not save them, does not free them — it designates them. The hominids receive the sign in silence, serial and motionless as always, while the gold ground continues to shine around them with the indifference of one who does not know — or does not wish to know.

glitter, acrylics, plaster, glue
