Geometry of Devotion (2026) Photograph by Pietro Ansaldi

50 x 70 x 1cm (unframed) / 44.03 x 65.71cm (actual image size)

£280

Part of the Fine Art Photography collection, Geometry of Devotion offers an intimate and elevated perspective on cultural heritage and sacred ritual. Captured on the final, most sacred day of the historic Mazu Pilgrimage at the Dajia Jenn Lann Temple in Taichung, Taiwan, this work stands as a testament to spiritual devotion and visual harmony. Having spent the day immersed in the vibrant celebrations—observing the rituals within the temple and following the sacred palanquin above thousands of kneeling devotees—the intention shifted from documenting the crowd to distilling the essence of the sacred atmosphere.

By breaking away from conventional documentary framing, the composition uses the intricate, golden-carved eaves of traditional temple architecture to isolate and frame the serene, infinite blue sky. It creates a quiet visual dialogue between the earthly grandeur of Taiwanese craftsmanship and the boundless spiritual realm above—a contemplative balance of geometry, light, and enduring cultural reverence.
