Flow State (2026) Photograph by Steven Irwin

Flow State is a series of long-exposure photographs made at busy urban transit points, capturing crowds as blurred, anonymous traces within the architecture of movement. The images are transformed through layered photomontage and mixed-media processes, combining scratches, grids, technical markings and fragments of text. Sardonic handwritten comments are hidden within the images, acting as quiet interventions that question routine, conformity and the loss of individual thought within the collective flow.
