This is the first painting I created reflecting on my experience of living abroad after leaving my homeland. The painful necessity that forced me to leave felt so harsh that it left me overwhelmed with deep homesickness. Somewhere far behind lay my home and my past life. The figure in the painting stands with their hands behind their back, looking almost like a prisoner.
