This is an allegory about the various things people believe in and the different manifestations of that belief. There are institutional churches, there is faith that is revealed and passed down from generation to generation, and there is a reality we cannot comprehend. Some time ago—or just a second ago, on the timescale of the universe and humanity—science emerged. Our knowledge is expanding rapidly, and technology is enabling us to do more and more. Many people today believe only in things that can be measured by the instruments we have managed to build. I am not passing judgment in this work; I am simply fascinated by the evolution of it all. And ultimately, what fascinates me most is what I do not know. ;)
