Original artwork description
Original abstract painting in lavender, plum and gold
There is a moment at the end of the day when colour starts to let go. Shadows deepen into plum and violet, the sky softens to lavender, and the last warm light lingers for just a little longer. Fading into Light is my attempt to hold on to that fleeting moment.
While painting, I worked from the edges inward. The darker aubergine and wine tones gather along the sides like dusk settling in, while the centre opens up into pale, luminous white. Between them, warm ochre and gold flicker like the final rays of the sun on water. The surface is soft and grainy, almost like velvet seen up close, and invites you to step closer and discover the small details hidden in the layers.
For me, this painting is about letting go gracefully. It holds both the melancholy of a day ending and the quiet promise of light that remains. The purple tones change noticeably with the time of day: cool and mysterious in the evening, warmer and rosier in daylight.
Its dreamy, poetic palette brings a sense of calm and elegance to a bedroom, living room or reading corner. It pairs beautifully with creamy whites, warm greys, velvet, natural wood and brass, and suits romantic, contemporary and classic interiors alike.
This work belongs to my Veiled Light series, where each painting captures a different mood of light, layered in colour, texture and gold.
