Original artwork description
With this painting, I seek to move the viewer not through narrative, but through atmosphere. I leave much unsaid, allowing silence and suggestion to shape the experience. Its meaning does not reveal itself immediately—it asks the viewer to pause, observe, and read it.
I have symbolically divided this work into two halves. On one side lies the open expanse of a blue night: a small paper boat drifting across a vast ocean and the slow movement of a snail. In contrast stands a heavy wall of clouds, dotted with tiny windows that symbolize individual lives, alongside the face of a woman emerging as if from the city of memories. Through these opposing elements, I sought to create a dialogue between freedom and confinement, nature and civilization, journey and waiting, silence and the passage of time.
The central symbol of the painting is the snail, representing time, waiting, and patience. It serves as the materialization of the woman's inner state.
Although the paper boat is the smallest "character" in the composition, it is no less significant. It stands in contrast to the massive snail, whose size seems to weigh heavily upon the mind. The boat symbolizes dreams and hope, setting out across the boundless ocean of life.
This painting tells the story of a person living between two worlds—the outer world and the inner one. It is a work about patience, hope, the passage of time, and the journey within.
