The book 'Het Ontsnapte Land' ("The Escaped Land") by Geert Mak served as a source of inspiration for this painting. The artwork incorporates many handwritten texts. It features a range of green, blue, and grey tones to reflect the Dutch landscape in an abstract, expressionistic way.
