Entropy (2023) Original Mixed-media Painting by Ilan Gonopolsky

This large-scale abstract artwork commands the space with a raw, visceral energy, dominated by sweeping, calligraphic brushstrokes of thick black paint against a textured, off-white canvas. The composition is built on a complex web of motion, featuring heavy, opaque swathes of deep black intersecting with frantic splatters, deliberate dripping paths, and scraping textures that reveal the stark background beneath. The explosive, gestural markings seem to radiate outward from the center, balancing dense clusters of dark pigment with finer, lightning-like tendrils of black paint arcing across the lighter spaces. Through its high-contrast, monochromatic palette and chaotic yet balanced geometry, the painting captures a sense of powerful emotional catharsis and spontaneous movement, acting as a vivid window into a turbulent psychological landscape or a snapshot of pure, unbridled creative force.
