This "Elements" Painting is very loosely based on the idea of, and feel of, desert and ancient landscapes, whilst exploring universal symbols. I try to express an internal response and sense of wonder. Living in Romania, I am conscious of the character of the nature and how it demonstrates elemental forces that are constantly changing, yet changeless. I enjoy desert landscapes and natural features affected by weather and erosion. A wide range of texturing materials are used, often from the places of inspiration. Also a large variety of techniques are employed including layering, scraping and impasto work. The edges show the development of the painting which I see as an added interest. I like the work to have a strong visual impact and to be interesting close up with small details and textures as well as from a distance.
This is an original acrylic & mixed media canvas painting painted on a deep edged canvas, which measures 100x100x4 cm. The sides are painted and it is signed on the back, it has a hook on the back making it ready to hang. I have painted this abstract in lovely earthy tones with some bright colors shining through, I have drawn the marks into the paint which was applied with a palette knife. When dried I have applied several glazes to create the rich tones.
I wanted to give it some character with the turquoise hits as well with the layering/texture with some of the boxing/lines I have created. I love the soft light filtering through the trees it is magical. I have used a variety of techniques in this painting creating the woodland background by mixing glazes and acrylic and paint.
