Handscape: Earthly Rhythms
The Story & Inspiration
In this minimalist bronze study, I explore the deep, integral bond between a dwelling and the land it occupies. The linear textures are inspired by the image of freshly furrowed fields and the gentle ripples of a lake, all leading toward the sturdy silhouette of a house. I am fascinated by how architecture and environment merge into a single, inseparable story of human presence within the natural cycles of the earth. The "Handscape" Philosophy This work is part of my "Handscape" (Rankvaizdis) series. To me, a landscape is not just a view to be observed; it is a tangible horizon that we shape and hold with our hands. By transforming a panoramic memory into a physical bronze object, I give the landscape weight and permanence.
Authentic Craftsmanship
Every stage of this sculpture was completed in my private foundry using the ancient lost-wax method. Forged at 1200°C, the bronze preserves the raw toolmarks and "footsteps" of the creative process. Designed to be versatile, this piece can lie horizontally on a table, shelf, or floor, inviting you to touch the ridges and find your own "Anchor of Silence."
