Dupla Face (2026) Original Oil Painting by Anastasia Bas
19.69 x 23.62 x 1.57" (unframed) / 19.69 x 23.62" (actual image size)
$726.63
Original artwork description
Dupla Face explores the complexity of identity and the coexistence of different aspects of the self.
A female figure moves through an ambiguous space, accompanied by a monumental, animal-like shadow. Rather than simply following the figure, the shadow takes on an identity of its own, suggesting a hidden self, an inner companion, or another dimension of personality.
The contrast between white and the dark silhouette creates a visual dialogue between vulnerability and strength, visibility and concealment, reality and imagination.
Through symbolic imagery and a restrained colour palette, the painting reflects on the duality of human nature and the shifting boundaries between who we are, how we see ourselves, and what remains hidden.
