Original artwork description
A fish—a symbol of the soul—lies on dry land. It has been cut off from its world and cannot return on its own to where it belongs. Perhaps everyone has experienced moments like this: You feel lost, helpless, or stuck in a situation from which there seems to be no way out. You wait for help, for a turning point, for the redeeming water—and don’t know when it will come.
Despite all its vulnerability, this image is not defined solely by despair. Color shimmers through the transparent, multi-layered background, revealing something that sustains us even in difficult times: hope. It is neither loud nor obvious, but it is there.
“Dry Run” depicts this human condition—caught between fear and confidence, between being at the mercy of circumstances and the desire to have solid ground beneath one’s feet again. Perhaps the image resonates precisely because it reminds us of something we all know: the moment when we hope that water will come again.
