A painting based on an old photo I had taken many years ago in Chicago of the famous Rock and Roll McDonalds restaurant at 600 N. Clark Street. I have completely changed the lighting and colours to an early morning scene before anybody is up (although it is a 24 hour diner) as I wanted it to look slightly surreal and dreamlike in it's mood and deserted streets like any public place always have a surreal quality to them. This picture is the first of a series of high-contrast, high-saturation paintings of urban America that I am currently working on. Based on a pink/orange - green/blue complementary colour scheme.
