Don't Let yourself Go (2026) Original Acrylic Painting by Lloyd Tabing

140 x 130 x 4cm (unframed)

£3,900.19

This painting began with an idea but as often happens in my work, the idea changed, deepened, and revealed itself through the painting process.

“Don’t Let Yourself Go” developed slowly, moving through many iterations before it became what I felt it needed to be. Each layer brought something forward, and each change asked me to listen a little more closely. The process was not about forcing the painting into a fixed idea, but allowing it to become itself.

At its heart, this piece is about holding on, not giving up on who you are, or who you still want to become. It is about resilience, identity, and the quiet strength it takes to keep moving forward without losing yourself along the way.

Like many of my recent works, this painting is also connected to spring and the beauty I see in nature. There is renewal in spring, a reminder that growth can return, that colour can reappear, and that even after uncertainty, something alive and beautiful can emerge.

“Don’t Let Yourself Go” is a reminder to stay connected to yourself, to your own becoming, and to the beauty that continues to unfold around us.
