Do Not Disturb (2026) Original Acrylic Painting by Luis López

Do Not Disturb is my latest acrylic painting on canvas and part of an ongoing series inspired by volcanoes. In this series, I approach the volcano not simply as a landscape motif, but as a symbol of latent energy, transformation, and the unpredictable forces that exist beneath apparently calm surfaces.

Here, a young man has fallen asleep among books while an erupting volcano dominates the landscape behind him. The landscape, partly inspired by Cubist forms, introduces fragmented shapes and shifting perspectives that contrast with the stillness of the sleeping figure.

The painting plays with the tension between calm and chaos, dream and reality. The books become a kind of refuge, a passage into thought, imagination, and another reality, while the world outside remains in constant transformation. Strong, vivid colors heighten this contrast, giving the scene an intensity that moves between serenity and disruption.

The title Do Not Disturb carries a subtle irony, something extraordinary is unfolding just beyond him, yet he remains peacefully detached, suspended somewhere between reading, sleep, and dreams.
