Original artwork description
Devine
Devine is an original charcoal study exploring the quiet intimacy, strength and vulnerability of the human form.
Created through expressive layers of charcoal, the figure emerges from the paper through a balance of confident marks, softened edges and areas deliberately left unresolved. Rather than attempting to describe every detail, the drawing allows gesture, light and shadow to suggest the body — creating a piece that feels immediate, instinctive and deeply human.
My work is strongly influenced by my fascination with human anatomy, but I am equally interested in what lies beyond anatomical accuracy: posture, emotion, sensuality and the subtle language of the body. In Devine, the female figure becomes both the subject and the source of atmosphere, inviting the viewer to pause and interpret the moment for themselves.
The monochrome palette gives the work a timeless quality, while the raw character of charcoal preserves the energy of the drawing process.
An intimate and contemporary figurative artwork, Devine would make a striking addition to a modern interior or an established collection of figurative art.
