Original artwork description
Features a close-up view of an iris flower in deep purple, with pale lavender highlights and lavender-white beards. Iridescent pearl white and gold paint have been incorporated into the paint colors. The shapes of the petals are enhanced by paint thickly applied with both palette knife and brush. Painted from life at Boerner Botanical Gardens in WI with Oil over casein paint on board. Running and dripping effects in the background were created with casein paint, then glazed over with oil. The flower is also accented by green leaves, some with semi-transparent green paint to incorporate them into the background. Framed in a 3" wide wood frame with a mahogany colored finish. 17.5" wide by 1" deep framed. May be purchased unframed by request.
