Quiet and contemplative; the subject and the title are inspired by Eva Green reflecting on her role as Sarah Lorean (astronaut) in Proxima, the 2019 film directed by Alice Winocaur. Green describes the idea of going into space as 'the place they're going to is something dark and silent, it's close to what death is'. She portrays the character in a deeply human story that explores the intense physical demands of space training alongside the emotional guilt of being a working mother.

Although the film is not based on a true story the director took inspiration from real-life experiences and struggles of female astronauts. The film highlights the subtle and overt biases women face in male-dominated professional fields.
