Original artwork description
Sometimes the most important things in a relationship are the ones we never quite put into words.
I was thinking about this while creating Currents Between Us, a small original textured abstract painting on a circular canvas.
The composition developed around two flowing forms. They seem to approach one another, change direction and continue, leaving an open space between them. I liked the feeling that something was happening there, even though nothing was being represented literally.
The landscape is deliberately ambiguous. The forms might be mountain ridges, water currents, drifting clouds or something more internal. I use these natural processes to explore how people connect, adapt and gradually influence each other.
Acrylic, sand and mineral pigments create tactile areas alongside softer passages of grey, silver and warm beige-gold. The mineral surface catches light differently depending on where the painting is viewed.
I see the circular format as part of the idea: there is no obvious beginning or end, only movement and a relationship between forms.
Currents Between Us is about closeness, individuality and the subtle exchanges that make every relationship different.
